Fantastic surroundings and service. Unfortunately, the dinner is more hype than substance. Some dishes frankly did not taste good at all (eggplant block with slice of berkshire sausage). Other dishes were good to fantastic. Overall however, for the price, it just seemed like every dish should have been great. The food also came out a bit too slow (sometimes 20-30 mins between courses) but the waitstaff was fantastically attentive.

Two menu choices are offered. A farmer's feast and a tasting menu. We tried the tasting menu which consisted of numerous small tastings but all in all was more than enough to eat. This was my second visit to Stone Barns and while I enjoyed it immensely I did not find the food as exciting as during my prior visit.

Beautiful room & grounds. Can't say the same about the food & service. Poorly executed.

Been here twice, and both times were excellent. Long sequences of courses focusing on ingredients with few embellishments. Meats (lamb especially) are excellent - succulent, tender, flavorful. But most memorable are their treatments of vegetables and breads, usually my least favorite parts of the meal. Some of their food philosophies are a little overtly liberal for me, but the quality is undeniable. Jaw-dropping grounds. A sensory experience.

Enjoyed the grounds & room more than the food & service. Maybe we'll try again in another season.
