Equus - Castle on the Hudson | 914-631-1980 | ||
The Equus, serving French-New American cuisine, is located in the beautiful and historic Castle Hotel & Spa at 400 Benedict Ave., Tarrytown, NY 10591 in Westchester County. From Equus: "Equus Restaurant is located in the Castle Hotel & Spa in Tarrytown, New York. This fine dining restaurant features menus inspired by local, artisanal farmers in the Hudson Valley region. Equus uses local and organic products whenever possible.
"The Garden Room has exquisite views of the lush gardens, the historic Hudson River Valley, and the majestic Manhattan skyline. The Oak Room, with its rich wood panel accoutrements first owned by Louis XIV, was brought intact to New York when the Castle was first built a century ago and the popular Library features rich Mahogany bookcases and a dramatic paneled ceiling in Neo-Classical style which adds to the room’s old-world beauty and charm. The General's Bar and Tapestry Lounge are great places to relax, socialize and enjoy your favorite libation or a light meal. The spectacular outdoor seasonal Terrace and Pool Grotto Bar is an inviting setting for romantic dining and cocktails."
Restaurant ReviewAttire = Business Casual or DressyCuisine = French-New American cuisine Full Bar Garden room with beautiful views Gluten-Free options Live Jazz Music (Call for schedule) Outdoor dining on seasonal terrace with beautiful views Parking = Valet Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner Sunday Brunch Wifi The word is The space is exquisite and the ambiance upscale; but for some that prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, it may be 'over-the-top'. Unfortunately several unhappy diners complain the food can range from "excellent" to "mediocre at best". However, most agree the dining rooms are beautiful, especially the Garden Room and Veranda offering stunning views. Sunday Brunch is quite good, and is especially enhanced by daytime views. Although the waitstaff is often inexperienced; dining at the Equus can be a memorable experience. What more can one say? Oh, it's pricey. Although Equus claims to use organic products whenever possible, it seems they rarely have an organic or grass-fed option on the menu.
